On Saturday I just found out bill banks passed away, bill was my grandfather’s business partner and then my father’s up to his retirement in the late 80s

Bill became a farther figure and touchstone for me after losing my dad in 1989, he gave me confidence when I had none and made me feel I could carry on when I just wanted to give up

Bill was a sailor during WW2, working on highly dangerous midget subs, he came close to death in a fire, getting dragged out unconscious by a brave American sailor when all seemed lost, bill married peg a wren and brought up his beautiful family in Diss on the corner of Mission rd, my thoughts and best wishes to his family, thinking of you all and I will have a drink tonight for dad

RIP bill, hugely missed.
